Health surveillance

Surveillance minimizes the risk of workers suffering adverse effects from exposures to workplace hazards. Hazards may be liquids, gases, metals, dusts, fibers, vibration or noise.

We can assist in evaluating workplace hazardous exposures and establishing your health surveillance requirements.

Statutory health surveillance

Legislation requires that workers exposed to a variety of hazardous substances, for example lead and isocyanates, must undergo regular health surveillance.

Surveillance may require

• blood tests to ensure levels of the hazard are present at acceptable levels, for example lead

• lung function tests to measure for effects of the substance, for example isocyanates

Dr. Cunningham is a Designated Doctor to conduct statutory health surveillance under Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 1997.
