Pre-employment medical assessments
Pre-employment (pre-placement) medical assessments assess the worker’s ability to safely undertake the duties of the job. Workplace Health and Safety legislation requires that employers do not injure their workers in the course of their job. The employer must also consider the safety of other workers, and in some instances the public.
Pre-placement medical assessments assist the employer in meeting their duty of care. The assessments are tailored to the needs of the job and placement, and focus on the ability of applicants to meet the requirements of the specific job.
The assessments also provide a baseline for further assessments, such as hearing and lung function.
